At Weylandts, we celebrate the unique characteristics of every leather hide.
There are many ways to treat leather, but we prefer to use only natural aniline full-grain leather.
In short, it means we don’t hide or cover up parts of the leather artificially to make it look ‘perfect’.
Instead, we use only high-quality bovine leathers and finish it in a way that showcases it in all its natural variation and beauty.

A FEW FACTS ABOUT OUR LEATHERS

NATURAL MARKINGS

Wrinkles, scars, brand marks, tick bite marks and colour variation are all natural characteristics of African bovine full-grain leather. These is not seen as a defects but as qualities which adds to the authenticity and beauty of each hide.

ANILINE DYEING

All our leathers are prepared and hand-dyed in Namibia in accordance with multi-step preparatory and tanning processes. By using vegetable oils and state-of-the-art equipment, the leather’s natural surface is retained. The end result is a sofa that is both soft and pleasant to the touch and has a natural lived-in look that only gets better and better over time.

INSPIRED BY THE LANDSCAPE

The African landscape is rich and varied. The colours of our leather ranges are inspired by the subtle variations in tone and raw textures of the continent. By looking at nature, we can create leather landscapes which are both timeless and contemporary in its understatement and authenticity.
